Rangoli – A Traditional Art & Symbol of Hindu Culture

Rangoli is very famous traditional art from India, it is also known as Kolam. Rangoli are the decorative designs to give attractive look to living rooms, floors etc. Rangoli is also the symbol of Hindu religion. We have passed from old to new generation but our culture is still alive, that’s the Bhartiya Samskriti (Indian Culture). There are variety of culture in the world, many cultures appeared and went according era. Our culture is safe and will be forever. Rangoli is called Kolam in Tamilnadu, Mandana in Rajasthan, Chowkpurna in North India, Alpana in West Bengal, Aripana in Bihar and Chowk Pujan in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

When we see our calendar, find that each day is the festival. Means to say we are living in the nation which is full of fasts and festivals. Rangoli plays main role in every festival. Rangoli decorates our homes to celebrate the special day. There are few great festival like Holi, Diwali, Janmastmi, Nagpanchmi, Baishakhi etc. we decorate houses with various rangoli designs. These rangoli are made with dry coloured rice, dry coloured flour and flower petals.
