A convection oven or a microwave oven is just a combination of a microwave and an oven. As the name suggests it uses both technology to cook or bake anything. It provides a specific temperature for heating, reheating, defrosting or baking foods or cookies, cake, etc.
It works by heating an element to increase the temperature inside the oven, and by the help of a fan it circulates hot air evenly in the microwave for cooking. So this how a microwave or convection oven works but a disadvantage of this oven is that, you cannot grill or toast anything in it.
On the other side we have an OTG. OTG is another type of electronic oven. An OTG stands for Oven, toaster and griller. OTG’s are commonly used by professionals or used for commercial purposes. But now it is also used by homemakers in their kitchen space. It can perform the functions of three different cooking appliances. It can be used for grilling any veg or non-veg food, toasting and baking.
An OTG directly heats the food for cooking. It converts electromagnetic energy into heat to increase the temperature and cook perfect baked food or anything else. It comes with various attachments like removable wire rack, crumb tray, etc. therefore it is an ideal option for professional cooking.
As everything has some pros and cons, it also has some negative points. Like, it is a little bit slower than a microwave, you cannot defrost food in it and it takes more time for reheating food.
So in the end, if you want to get a better hand on professional cooking, then an OTG is best for you. However, if you want an appliance for small kitchen needs then go for a conventional oven.
